MAPu 0.13.1 2026-09-30

No more weather: the program no longer fetches weather data from the internet (Open-Meteo): the Live 3D scene and the 3D vehicle on the map show the ride without rain, snow, clouds or a wet road; the Sun and Moon light still follows the recording time. Projects and presets saved earlier load as before, only their weather setting is left out.
Smaller installer: the bundled ffmpeg is now MAPu’s own build, with only the parts the program uses; the installer is 190 MB instead of 263 MB, the installed program 570 MB instead of 807 MB. Its source and the build recipe are on the About page.
Two-pass H.265 export: CPU H.265 (x265) encoding with 2 passes stopped with an error; now it finishes.
New address: mapu.hu: the MAPu website moved to https://mapu.hu/; the update notice and the program’s links point there too. The privacy notice no longer has the weather, and it describes the website’s cookie bar (visitor statistics start only after you accept).
Top bar: a short description next to the name: “Telemetry overlay for action cams”.

MAPu 0.13.0 2026-09-30

Snap: with the switch above the picture (on by default), a widget you move or resize gently snaps to the edges and centres of the other widgets, the video and the frame; a faint line shows what it snaps to. Holding Alt turns it off for one drag.
Selecting several widgets: with Ctrl or Shift + click, a frame dragged from an empty spot, or Ctrl+A; the selected widgets move together (with the arrow keys too), delete together, and one undo step brings it all back.
Shared properties: with several selected, the right-hand panel shows only what they share: height, rotation and the settings every one of them has (where they differ, “mixed”); Same height sets them all to the first selected one's height, keeping their proportions.
Align and distribute: left, centre, right, top, middle or bottom to the first selected widget, and equal gaps horizontally or vertically — icon buttons in the right-hand panel and in the right-click menu.
Resize and rotate: the selected widget resizes from any of its four corners; click it once more and the corners become rotation handles, one more click switches back.
Background colour: around the video in the output frame, the background can be any colour (with a colour picker, black by default); the blurred background stays.
Consistent settings: the same setting is the same in every widget, so it can be set for several selected widgets at once; projects and presets saved earlier load as before.
One bar above the picture: the tools for the video, the output and the widgets in one row; the Output button shows the current size and frame rate, and a click opens a panel for the size, frame rate, the video's position and the background.
Moving the video: while Move is on, the bar shows Cancel and Apply; a click outside the video also keeps its new place, Esc puts it back.
Straight drags: hold Shift or Ctrl and the widget, the selected widgets or the video you drag moves only horizontally or vertically.
Source by default: the first video you load sets the output size and frame rate to its own, even if you chose something else last time.
Help bubbles: no longer open over an open list or menu, so its items are easy to pick.

MAPu 0.12.1 2026-09-29

Output size: chosen in the new Output bar above the picture: Source (the video's own size, the default), 4K, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, vertical 9:16 (1080×1920 and 1440×2560), 4:5, square, or a custom width × height; the frame rate is there too.
The video in the frame: Fit (the whole video shows), Fill, or Move: drag the video and resize it with the mouse.
Background: where the video does not cover the frame, it is black or blurred — the latter is the video itself, enlarged and blurred.
Preview: it shows the output frame with a small margin around it; what shows darkened there is left out of the video.
Widgets on another aspect ratio: when the size changes they are re-laid once: each keeps to its nearest edge or to the middle, none sticks out or covers another; switching back brings the original layout back.
Sizes that cannot be encoded: a size the chosen encoder cannot make (for example above 4096 pixels with H.264 NVENC) is flagged up front with a message, and the export does not start with it.
Presets: loading a layout preset keeps the output size, the frame rate, the video's place and the background.

MAPu 0.12.0 2026-09-29

New layout: a rail on the left with the main pages (Videos, Data, Widgets, Processing, Export), the picture in the middle, and the Properties column always on the right — selecting a widget no longer resizes anything.
Top bar: the interface size and the language can be set at the top too, not only in Settings.
Widgets panel: widgets with no data in the loaded footage are greyed out and moved to the end of the list; the miniatures update twice a second, in the background; the 3D widgets' cards are still pictures, so the panel starts no 3D work.
Widget list: hovering over a row in the „widgets on the picture” list highlights that widget on the picture.
3D vehicles: in the Advanced view the vehicle picker and your own .glb model sit at the top.
Bottom bar: cells can be added and removed; each value appears once.
Play bar and Sync view: the bar is taller and the needless tab is gone; the Sync view opens in its place.
Help: a full-window page organised by topic: first steps, GPS and data files, rear camera, keys, troubleshooting, own widgets, about.
Your own widgets: .js widgets put in the Documents\MAPu\Widgets folder survive updates and appear in the gallery under „Own widgets”; Help has a sample file and the description.
Fixes: the 3D vehicle export is no longer striped; videos can be dragged in from Explorer; when one widget cannot be drawn (for example the map while offline), only its own place shows a notice and the rest stays visible.

MAPu 0.11.0 2026-09-28

Video processing: the video's picture can be improved under the gauges — mirror, stabilisation, exposure, brightness, contrast, highlights and shadows, tint, saturation, blur, sharpen and a vignette in a colour of your choice. Everything is off by default; the steps are switched on and tuned one by one, their order can be changed, the preview shows the result live, and the finished video gets exactly the same. The stabilised picture stays sharp (a single resampling with a Lanczos filter). With processing on, the export is slower; a line above the video says so.
GPS processing: the GPS data can be cleaned between the source and the gauges — dropping inaccurate fixes and spikes, pulling a position that wanders about while you stand still into one point (so the map and the speed don't "crawl" during a stop), smoothing with a choice of three methods, and upsampling sparse data (for example from 1 Hz to 5 Hz). Every step is off by default, the order can be changed by dragging, and the preview shows the effect at once.
Export presets: the Export page's settings can be saved under a name, loaded, renamed and deleted; they are available in every project and kept after a restart. If a preset holds a setting this computer can't run (for example NVENC), the program switches to the nearest one that works, and says so.
3D vehicle on the map: a new widget. The vehicle's 3D model drives on the real map, with terrain, 3D buildings, street names, the weather at the recording's time and light effects (such as the glow of lamps); the camera follows the vehicle or watches it from a fixed angle.
Live 3D vehicle with a fixed view: a new widget. The vehicle always shows the side you chose, turns a little into bends in proportion to how sharp they are, then settles back; a simple piece of road under it shows that it is moving. The camera's side, angle, height and zoom can be set.
New, detailed 3D vehicles: a built-in car, motorbike, bicycle and e-scooter, with a colour picker for the paint.
Shadow and motion on the 3D vehicles: one soft cast shadow whose direction is fixed or follows where the Sun stood at the recording's time. While moving, the vehicle vibrates gently even without accelerometer data (can be switched off, strength adjustable), road bumps are more restrained, and the wheels blur only at high speed (above 60 km/h), and much less. In the Live 3D scene, trees and bushes can be switched separately.
Journey Line: a new widget. It shows on a horizontal or vertical line where you are along the ride: start and finish marked, the part covered highlighted, the distance next to the moving point, and a figure of your choice above it, resizable in the widget editor.
Line-art figure: a new widget. The Journey Line's figures on their own, without a background, with a colour and line width of your choice, heading right or left — anywhere on the picture.
Livelier 2D figures: while moving, the figure's body rocks with the speed, and its wheels visibly turn forward at every speed.
Snap to road: on the map widgets the position can be snapped to the road when GPS noise puts it next to it, with an adjustable tolerance.
Rotate with the mouse: every widget can be rotated in the preview with the handle next to its top right corner; hold Ctrl for 10° steps, double-click to go back to 0°. The angle can also be typed in the widget editor.
Widgets past the edge: a widget may stick out of the picture by up to half its own size; what sticks out is cut off, in the preview and in the finished video alike.
A note on slower exports: when a 3D vehicle or video processing is on the picture, a line above the video on the Widgets page says that the export will be much slower.
Fixes: a deleted 3D widget no longer stays in the preview; removing it also stops its video analysis; the "The Picture Is Still Empty" note above an empty preview is gone; several gauges (Climb, Milestone Flash, Route, Pedals, Steering wheel) fit their labels and units properly — nothing disappears or sticks out.

MAPu 0.10.0 2026-09-27

Cutting: trim the start and the end of the exported video, and cut out parts in the middle — on the timeline under the player, in the preview. The gauges' data and the sync you set move with the cut; what is cut out, the preview skips too. A recording split into pieces shows in the preview as one video.
Frame rate: on the Export page you choose the finished video's frame rate. It only offers values the footage can give without stutter (from 120: 60, 30, 24 or 15; from 30: 15); for a higher rate it creates in-between frames, in one of three ways (duplication, frame blending, motion-tracking).
Faster export: the gauges and the map are drawn by several helper processes at once, so the finished video is ready sooner. This needs at least 8 GB of memory.
The data file lands in place on its own: a separate data file is lined up with the video by its timestamps — by the video's GPS clock or the camera's clock — and the source's row says which. Per data type you can pick a primary and a fallback source: where one has no data, the other fills in. Where neither has, there is no number — nothing is made up.
A map in the sync view: a zoomable map next to the video, with a marker for every source in its own colour. At a corner you see at once how much is still to shift; the map follows the source you move.
A gauge's elements one by one: in "Edit elements" mode the preview zooms in on the gauge, and you drag, reword or remove its labels, numbers and marks separately; the right side shows only the selected element's settings. The map's credit line is placed the same way, by dragging.
Windows fonts: with one switch the fonts installed on your computer can be chosen for the gauges' text; the list shows each in its own typeface, can be searched, and remembers the ones used last.
Vehicle data: from RaceChrono and the new TrackAddict logs it reads RPM, gear, throttle, brake, coolant, oil and intake temperature and steering angle, and shows them on the "any data" gauges.
Live 3D vehicle and 3D scene: two new gauges. The vehicle moves with the recording's real data: it steers, its wheels turn with the speed, it leans in bends, dips under braking and rides on its springs; where the camera's accelerometer measures (for example GoPro, Insta360, RaceBox), it also plays back rough road, speed bumps and jumps. Built-in vehicles; your own 3D model (.glb) can be loaded too, with a guide for making one. In the 3D scene the vehicle drives the ride's real road, with landscape and sky; the light comes from where the Sun or the Moon stood at the recording's time and place, and follows the video's tone. With several data sources you can pick which one moves it.
Weather in the 3D scene: if the recording has a GPS position and an exact time, the program looks up the weather at that time in a free weather archive (rain, snow, clouds, wet road), and the 3D scene shows it. Only the date and an area of about 10 km are sent, not the exact route; without internet the scene is made without weather. Details in the privacy notice.
Redesigned and new gauges: every gauge got a cleaner, easier-to-read look. New "any data" building blocks: value, gauge, needle gauge, segment ring, tape, bar, graph, profile, route line, following route, data panel, pill, card and strip — for each you choose which data it shows. The odometer is new too. They replace the earlier gauges tied to a single value; old layouts convert on their own.
Car gauges: RPM, gear (with a drawn H-pattern shifter), pedals, temperatures and steering, each as a drawn gauge and as a digital display. Where the log did not measure a value, "--" is shown, never a made-up number.
Lap and sector times: the laps and sectors recorded in the log (RaceChrono, TrackAddict, RaceBox, VBO, FIT, TCX) as a stopwatch or a sector ring. For your own recording you set the start/finish line and the sector boundaries: move the preview to where you are on the line, and press "Start/finish here" or "Sector boundary here" in the gauge's settings.
More data files: Torque Pro (OBD) and Registrator Viewer logs; from a Torque Pro log the RPM, the temperatures, the accelerator and the car's own speed come in too. If a sensor was mounted the other way round, the G-force, the lean and the steering direction can be flipped.
A smoother preview: the gauges on the picture update at most at the finished video's frame rate, and the gallery only refreshes the cards you can see — smoother on slower computers too. Stepping frame by frame, the gauges always show the video's own frame.
Convenience: on the Videos page one button ("Clear All") empties the list (the files stay on the disk); you can drag a gauge from the gallery straight onto the preview.
Altitude above sea level everywhere: GoPro altitude is now above sea level, like every other source (before, it showed the camera's raw value, which can be off by tens of metres). DJI recordings carry no altitude above sea level, so there the altitude gauge shows no number.
The interface: its size is set on the header's slider, from 50 to 150 %; a "Next" button in the bottom right corner of the first two pages takes you to the next one; the sync view and the other floating windows can be resized at their edges; the left panel has a header too and can go into its own window; the (?) and (i) help texts are structured: title, points, examples, keys.
Fixes: the needless "…" is gone from button labels; if one gauge's file is broken, the others still load, and the Log names the one left out.

MAPu 0.9.0 2026-09-25

Many more cameras and data files: besides GoPro and Insta360 it now reads the position from DJI drones and cameras and from dashcams with GPS (Viofo, Vantrue, BlackVue, Garmin, Thinkware and others). From a file, besides GPX, it takes FIT (Garmin, Wahoo, Coros, Suunto watches and bike computers), TCX, NMEA, DJI SRT, Racelogic VBO, RaceBox and RaceChrono.
Several data sources on one video: for example the position from the camera and the heart rate from your watch's file. New gauge: Heart rate.
New sync view: a large window shows the data of each source (your choice: speed, altitude, heart rate…). Set the video to a moment that is easy to recognise (setting off, braking) and line the data up with one click; one button resets it. The offset can be typed in milliseconds. The camera's own GPS is no longer shifted by default, but can be moved if needed.
Rear camera on the picture: if your dashcam also films backwards, the rear picture can go onto the video in a small window. When loading, the program recognises on its own which videos belong together (front and rear camera, pieces of one recording).
One recording, one video: a recording split into pieces (GoPro, Insta360, dashcam) becomes one film on its own, in the order of the pieces; separate videos are rendered separately.
GPS reception on the picture: three new gauges show how good the GPS was (satellites, accuracy, a timeline of the signal). They show only what the device really recorded — where there is no data, they say "no GPS".
Widget editor: every gauge's settings in a Simple view (placement, size, colours) and an Advanced view. Sliders show the result live while you drag, and the size scales everything in proportion. The editor opens on the right or in its own window; the panels can be resized and moved to another monitor.
Every label can be changed: every text every gauge draws. What does not fit is first drawn in a smaller font, and only cut with "…" as a last resort. Dates can be shown in Hungarian or international form.
Theme and language in the header: light, dark or following Windows with one click, the language with a flag.
Less text, clearer help: explanations moved behind small (?) and (i) marks, the Help was rewritten in short, task-by-task sections, and error messages say in plain words what happened and what to do.
Map: the map credit now sits at the bottom centre of the map by default, in the street name's band (adjustable), and a long street name fits in a smaller font. The Export page tells you what to put in the description of an uploaded video.
Fixes: the thin white line sometimes seen along a gauge's edge is gone; an accidental Ctrl+R no longer empties the program; the gallery pictures stay sharp on a monitor with different scaling.
